‘Meet your veteran’ program in McDonald

  • November 30, 2012

In conjunction with the 71st anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, the McDonald Veterans Association is giving the community an opportunity to honor military veterans from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Heritage Library, 52 Fourth St., McDonald, through a gathering called Meet Your Veteran.

“This is the first year of this event,” said Roberta Garn, one of the organizers. “We still have one Pearl Harbor survivor and that is Floyd Laughlin. We have nearly 100 veterans in this area. We want the public to come out and meet our veterans.”

Refreshments will be available.

Veterans who plan to attend are asked to respond to Daniels Sorrells, an officer of both the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts, at 724-926-8003, or Roberta Garn at 724-926-9361.
