WWII air raid warden was homemaker
Rohala Rodriguez Venanzi, 94, of Monongahela, died Monday, December 3, 2012, in her home.
She was born May 14, 1918, in Gracella, W.Va., a daughter of Serafin and Natividad Rodriguez.
Mrs. Venanzi was a homemaker.
She was a 1936 graduate of Donora High School. During World War II, she was an air raid warden for Gregg Street in Monongahela. She was a member of Donora Senior Citizens Club and served as the president of Mon Valley Art Club and Friends of the Library.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Martha Venanzi of McMurray; a daughter, Sandra Mann of Monongahela; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Linda Venanzi of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and sisters-in-law Zara Pesognelli and LaDonna Venanzi, both of Monongahela.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Attilio (Tee) Venanzi, who died February 11, 1997; a brother, Julio Rodriguez; a sister, Isabel Welch; a brother-in-law, Henry Venanzi; and a sister-in-law, Rosann Farr.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 6, with the Rev. Robert Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Monongahela Area Library, 813 West Main Sreet, Monongahela, PA 15063.
