Audrey Ann Szoyka
She was born August 6, 1936, in Crucible, a daughter of the late Mike and Pauline Sharpnack Wasko and the wife of the late Earl Szoyka, who died October 29, 1990.
Mrs. Szoyka spent her entire life in the Dry Tavern and Carmichaels areas and was Presbyterian.
She was a 1954 graduate of Cumberland Township High School and began her career as a legal secretary for the late J.B.F. Rinehart, until the time of her marriage, December 28, 1957, to Mr. Szoyka.
Mrs. Szoyka and her husband developed the Szoyka Plan of lots and the Pumpkin Run Plan of lots in Greene County. She remained a homemaker until her employment as a tipstaff for the late Honorable Glenn Toothman. Mrs. Szoyka was then appointed deputy court administrator and later Court Administrator, where she served the Honorable H. Terry Grimes, the Honorable William R. Nalitz and the Honorable Farley Toothman for the past 25 years. She truly loved her job and will be missed by all the attorneys and staff in the Greene County Courthouse and the county offices.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and is survived by a daughter, Susan Samek and husband John of Carmichaels; a granddaughter, Megan Denelle Lydic and husband David “Gravy” of Uniontown; a grandson, Ryan Earl Samek and girlfriend Kelsey Mahan of Masontown; a brother, Michael Wasko of Cross, S.C.; two nieces, Michelle Wasko Rusiewski of LaHabra Heights, Calif., and Vanessa Wasko Young of Massillon, Ohio; and three great-nieces, Hannah Rusiewski, Cassidy Young and Clarissa Young.
She also leaves behind nine pets that she called her “grand fur babies.”
