Giving thanks for Prexies

December 4, 2012

We all took time in November to enjoy Thanksgiving. Some of us, like myself, are thankful for the Washington High School Prexie football team.

The Prexies gave us an undefeated season, an interstate conference championship and a playoff run that ended at Heinz Field. I am very pleased and would like to thank Head Coach Mike Bosnic and his assistants and student athletes who made this dream come true. I would also like to thank Dr. Roberta DiLorenzo, our superintendent, and Frank Rotunda, the high school principal, and B.J. Mihelcic, the junior high principal, for their leadership.

The Washington High School cheerleaders, led by Kim Smith and Leigh Marischak, kept the fans cheering all season long. The high school band, led by Dave Dayton and Mark Poole, gave us beautiful music to stimulate the crowd.

Last, but by no means least, the fans. Prexie fans, led by William “Locke” Hartley cheered and chanted for the black and blue at every touchdown.

Yes, we “believe in Wash High” and had a fantastic season. The year 2012 marked the 111th season for Washington High School and it was a wild ride for all Prexie fans and it will be a cherished memory for me.
