Numerous people recently appeared in Washington County Court on criminal charges.


Appearing before Judge Janet Moschetta Bell were:


Chad A. Catrain, 24, of 471 Fannie St., McDonald; statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors; charged for sexually assaulting a teenage girl beginning in 2008 when she was between 13 and 14 years old; sentence – 1 year less 1 day to 2 years less 2 days in jail followed by 2 years of probation.


Janet L. Workman, 51, of 114 E. Main St., Girard, Ohio; second offense of driving under the influence; charged following a two-vehicle crash June 12, 2011, on Route 18 near North Hewitt Avenue in Canton Township; her blood-alcohol content was 0.033 percent, and she tested positive for drugs; sentence – SCRAM-X for 180 days to 18 months, $1,500 fine, 18-month driver’s license suspension, 12-month ignition interlock.


William J. Winston, 36, of 70 Pointview Drive, Washington; second offense of DUI; charged following a traffic stop March 13, 2011, in the parking lot of a West Wylie Avenue bar; his BAC was 0.192 percent; sentence – SCRAM-X for 180 days to 18 months, $1,500 fine, 18-month driver’s license suspension, 12-month ignition interlock.


Robert C. Recaldini Jr., 30, of 520 3rd St., Charleroi; indecent assault, corruption of minors; charged for indecently assaulting a 16-year-old girl in September 2011 at a Carroll Township residence; sentence – 6 months to 23 months in jail followed by 5 years of probation.


Eric W. Hanna Jr., 20, of 270 Allison Ave., Washington; possession of instruments of a crime, theft from a motor vehicle, criminal conspiracy; charged for stealing items Sept. 18 from vehicles parked at the Northgate Apartments in South Strabane Township; sentence – 12 months of probation, ordered to pay restitution of $268.


Christopher M. McGrail, 19, of 391 W. Chestnut St., Apt. 4, Washington; possession of instruments of a crime, theft from a motor vehicle, criminal conspiracy; charged for stealing items Sept. 18 from vehicles parked at the Northgate Apartments in South Strabane Township; sentence – Intermediate Punishment program for 18 months with the first 3 months on intensive supervision, ordered to pay restitution of $268.


Frank J. Colbert, 41, of 204 Jane St., Richeyville; possession of a controlled substance; charged for possessing Opana pills after he was taken into custody July 26 for violating his probation; sentence – 12 months of probation with the first 90 days on high-impact supervision.


Kenneth L. Dorsey, 43, of 4101 Stratford Blvd., Steubenville, Ohio; third offense of DUI; charged following a traffic stop Sept. 7, 2011, on McKnight Avenue in North Franklin Township; his BAC was 0.347 percent; sentence – 1 year to 2 years in jail, $2,500 fine.


Appearing before Judge John DiSalle were:


Richard C. Loar, 48, of 64 Peterson St., Avella; aggravated assault; charged after shooting a 12-gauge shotgun at a truck in which his wife was sitting following an argument May 9 at their residence; sentence – 1 year less 1 day to 2 years less 2 days in jail.


Katie E. Spalding, 31, of 636 3rd St., Marietta, Ohio; first offense of DUI, endangering the welfare of a child, conspiracy to commit retail theft, receiving stolen property, identity theft and two counts of theft; charged for driving while under the influence of controlled substances following a traffic stop May 4 at Delaware Trail and Shawnee Trail in Peters Township; charged for attempting to steal merchandise Aug. 19 from the Trinity Point Walmart in South Strabane Township; charged after jewelry was reported stolen Dec. 17, 2011, from a Circle Drive residence in McMurray; charged after a former roommate reported Feb. 28 that Spalding had used her identity while being treated at Canonsburg General Hospital; charged after jewelry was reported stolen Nov. 27, 2011, from a West McMurray Road residence in North Strabane Township; charged after a former co-worker reported a ring stolen Feb. 7 from the office of a McMurray cemetery; sentence – 3 years of probation, 12-month license suspension, ordered to pay $8,853 in restitution.


Jennifer L. Horner, 38, of 9 Patsch St., Houston; possession of drug paraphernalia, false reports to law enforcement; charged following a traffic stop Oct. 9 on Main Street near Westland Road in Hickory; sentence – 12 months of probation with 90 days of high-impact supervision.
