Make the world safer

December 29, 2012

There has been a transition over the years of increased violence in movies, video games and television. There has to be a point where we say enough is enough.

Exposing our young people to this senseless violence is not healthy. The tragic events at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., by a deranged individual made everyone stop in disbelief. How could this be happening in our beautiful country?

Our elected officials need to act now and reinstate the ban on these deadly weapons. However, there is a much broader problem than the ban on these deadly weapons, but that is an important first step.

Mental health issues, loss of respect for life, broken homes all need to be addressed.

It’s been said that those who do nothing to change the present are doomed to repeat the past. We must all do our part to make the world a safer place for everyone, especially our young people. They deserve no less.
