George W. Adams
He was the beloved husband of the late Lois R. Adams; loving father of George W. “Bill” (Joan) Adams III, Michael A. Adams, Lisa A. (Doug) Adamsky, Laura Lee (Pat) McQueeney and the late Joe R. Adams; and caring grandfather of Garrison Reed, Kevin, Annette and Michael Reed Adams, Malley and Jay D. Adamsky and Shannon and Brady McQueeney.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and three sisters and a brother.
Mr. Adams proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He earned his bachelor of science degree in education at Glenville State College, where he participated in football and baseball. He earned a master of education degree at West Virginia University.
In 1949, he began teaching at Sutton High School in West Virginia. He taught, served as principal and coached three sports until he joined Nationwide Insurance in 1956. In 1972, he established George Adams Nationwide Agency, where he worked until 2011. He was active in Carnegie Rotary until 2012.
Outside work, his interests included singing in the church choir and South Hills Chorale, working on his son’s farm and jigsaw puzzles. He held his family dear and especially enjoyed “coaching” and spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, in Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park. Interment will be held in Glenville.
