Eckenrode – 60 years
John and Margaret (Berus) Eckenrode of Canonsburg celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family celebration.
Mr. and Mrs. Eckenrode were married December 27, 1952, at St. Mary’s Church in Conneaut, Ohio.
They are the parents of John (Pam) Eckenrode of Ocean View, Del., Debbie (Richard) Lawson of Finleyville, Bob (Linda) Eckenrode of Mt. Lebanon, Tom Eckenrode of Canonsburg, Mary (Mark) Mikec of McMurray, Charles (Claudia) Eckenrode of Canonsburg, Cindy (Charles) Evanoski of Wexford, Janet (Gary) Wall of Eighty Four, Judy (Rob) Asbell of Venetia, Susan (Dave) Rendulic of Mt. Lebanon, Brian (Kelly) Eckenrode of Gibsonia and Ken (Kelly) Eckenrode of Cranberry. They have 52 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Eckenrode served during the Korean War as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Penn Mutual Life Insurance after 45 years of service and works for Knights of Columbus. Mr. Eckenrode participated in the 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011 National Senior Olympics in cycling and won two bronze medals. He enjoys volunteering in his community.
Mrs. Eckenrode is a retired registered nurse. She worked at Mercy Hospital for 10 years and Canonsburg Hospital for seven years. She enjoys cycling and won six gold medals and two silver medals while competing in the National Senior Olympics in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. She loves spending time with her grandchildren and volunteers in her community.
