Catherine A. VanVoorhis, 95, of Eighty Four, died Friday, January 11, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born June 27, 1917, a daughter of the late Perry and Grace Henderson Morrow.
She was a 1933 graduate of Ellsworth High School and a 1936 graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. VanVoorhis worked as an registered nurse in Washington Hospital for many years before her retirement. After retirement, she worked as a private duty nurse.
She was a former president of the Washington County Quilters and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting.
She was a member of Ellsworth Presbyterian Church.
In 1940, she married Henry L. VanVoorhis, who died April 3, 2008.
Surviving are four sons, Thomas M. “Tim” VanVoorhis of Eighty Four, Victor V. VanVoorhis of Mansfield, Texas, David L. VanVoorhis of Scenery Hill and John C. VanVoorhis of Cape Carol, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Gloss of Columbiana, Ohio, and Jacqueline Carson of Washington; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a sister, Helen Roupe.
