Gabe Pritz had 29 points and 11 rebounds as Peters Township forced its way back into playoff contention in Section 4-AAAA with a 57-45 win over Mt. Lebanon in a high school boys basketball game Friday night.
Nick Parello added 10 points for the Indians (3-5, 6-9), who outscored in the Blue Devils (3-5, 6-10) in every quarter.
The win moved the Indians into a five-way tie for third place in the section with Mt. Lebanon, Trinity, Canon-McMillan and Moon.
Bethel Park 62, Canon-McMillan 49: Bethel Park held Canon-McMillan to just one field and four free throws in the third quarter, outscoring the Big Macs, 22-6, en route to a 62-49 victory in Section 4-AAAA.
Cody Gilchrist led the way for the Black Hawks (8-0, 14-1) with 17 points, while Wyatt Hagerty and Josh Kracfynzski contributed 11 apiece.
Brett Haney led Canon-McMillan (3-5, 9-7) with 20 points. Sam Bohn added 12 points and Jake Cadez seven, but nobody else had more than three.
Charleroi 86, Bentworth 45: Jim Diaz led a balanced scoring attack with 28 points as Charleroi rolled to an 86-45 Section 5-AA win over Bentworth.
Matt Indorante added 16 points, Sheldon Linneman 14 and Ryan Konek 10 for the Cougars (7-1, 9-4).
Cody Levine had 28 points to lead Bentworth (2-6, 5-9).
Bishop Canevin 54, Washington 47: Jake Seligman had 17 points as Bishop Canevin pulled into a tie for section place with Washington in Section 4-AA with a 54-47 win over the Prexies.
Mike Tambolini added 14 points for Bishop Canevin (4-3, 7-8).
Josh Wise had 15 points, Dupree Jenkins 13 and Jaylin Kelly 10 for the Prexies (4-3, 11-5), who have now lost three straight.
Frazier 53, Beth-Center 37: Charlie Manack had 23 points as Frazier upset Beth-Center, 53-37, in Section 5-AA.
Frazier (2-5, 3-9) outscored the Bulldogs (4-4, 7-7) 18-9 in the second quarter.
Adam Walters led Beth-Center with 12 points.
California 78, Jefferson-Morgan 45: Tanner Huffman scored a game-high 20 points, Brian Fisher scored 15 points and Demetri Clements 13, as California kept rolling in Section 5-AA with a 78-45 win over Jefferson-Morgan.
Austin Wingo added 10 points for the Trojans, who are now 8-0, 13-1.
Rece Henneman scored 16 points, and Travis Taylor added 13 for the Rockets (2-5, 7-8).
Brownsville 83, West Greene 30: Brownsville outscored the Pioneers by 32 points in the first half and never looked back during an 83-30 win. Tre Durbin scored 16 points, and Ryan Novotney added 14 for the Falcons, who improved to 6-2, 10-4.
Austin Eddy led West Greene (0-8, 0-13) with seven points.
Seton-La Salle 78, Chartiers-Houston 60: Ryan Norkus scored 19 points to headline a group of four players in double figures, as Seton-La Salle outscored the Bucs by 14 in the second quarter to pull away for a 78-60 win in Section 4-AA.
Christian DelGreco and Dale Clancy each had 12 points, while Levi Masua added 10, helping the Rebels improve to 7-0, 13-2.
Alec Ferrari led Chartiers-Houston (2-5, 5-10) with 16 points. Kodie Hanely added 14.
Carmichaels 67, Mapletown 35: Brandon Lawless scored 29 points and was one of three Carmichaels players in double figures during Friday’s 67-35 win at Mapletown in Section 3-A. Besides Lawless, who made 13 field goals, Sean Smoggie had 12 points and Josh Mundell contributed 10.
Though it trailed by one after the first quarter, Carmichaels (3-2, 12-3) outscored Mapletown, 38-20, over the middle two quarters to pull away.
Dereck Riggleman led Mapletown (2-3, 4-11)) with 22 points.
Geibel 52, Avella 46: The Eagles squandered a four-point lead in the fourth quarter and suffered a 52-46 to visiting Geibel in Section 3-A. It was Geibel’s (1-4, 1-10) first win of the year.
Tyler Schweiss led Geibel with 15 points.
Brandon Miller had a game-high 17 points for Avella (0-5, 2-12). Walt Kopko contributed 11.
Clairton 56, Monessen 38: Monessen saw its four-game Section 3-A winning streak come to a close with a 56-38 loss at Clairton. The 38 points tie the Greyhounds’ previous season low.
Javon Brown was the only player in double figures with 12 points. Clintell Gillaspie added eight points, and Luke Doptis had seven.
Clairton (5-0, 7-3) got 15 points from Bryon Clifford and 11 from Titus Howard, as it took over sole possesion of first place in the section.
Ringgold 64, Belle Vernon 45: Ringgold earned its first Section 4-AAA win – and first overall since Dec. 7 –with a 64-45 home victory over Belle Vernon Thursday night. Dayshore Majors tied a game-high with 21 points, while John Maldonado finished with 11 points. Demetrius Louis contributed 11 points.
Ringgold outscored Belle Vernon, 16-4, in the third quarter to pull away and 17-11 in the fourth to seal it.
Jason Capo also had 21 points to lead Belle Vernon (1-6, 2-13). Ryan Thomas added 13 points.
South Fayette 23, North Hills 21: Kristen Hardt converted two free throws with five second left to lift South Fayette to a 23-21 victory over visting North Hills in a non-section games. Shannon Gillespie scored eight points and Caitlin McLuckie added five to help the Lions improve to 8-5.
South Fayette outscored the Indians, 9-3, in the final period.
Bre Bertram scored six points point for North Hills (5-11).
McGuffey 74, Avella 32: Sammie Weiss had 31 points to lead McGuffey past Avella, 74-32, in a non-section game.
Sam Chadwick added 12 points, while Rachel Czulewicz had 11, for McGuffey (13-1).
Kenna Drazich had 11 points for Avella (9-5).
Belle Vernon 42, Mt. Pleasant 35: Jessica Slagus had 10 points as Belle Vernon improved to 10-4 with a 42-35 non-section win over Mt. Pleasant. Alexa Szelong had 10 points for Mt. Pleasant.
