Anthony John Russo
He was born November 16, 1945, in Montesano, Italy, in the province of Salerno, a son of the late Giuseppe and Felicetta Ormando Russo.
Mr. Russo was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and Pittsburgh Beauty Academy, where he received his barbers license.
He was an owner/operator and barber at many of his salons in Washington on West Chestnut Street, Manifold Road, Main Street and Beau Street. He retired in 2005 because of his illness.
Mr. Russo was instrumental in starting the youth soccer program through the Optimist Club. He enjoyed real estate investments, gardening and traveling, especially back to Italy many times with his wife, Colleen.
He served in the 28th Infantry Division with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard during the Vietnam era, receiving the Gen. Thomas J. Stewart Medal.
On January 6, 2001, he married Colleen Hildebrand, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Mark (Jammie) Russo of Washington; a daughter, Melissa (Bob) Campbell of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Michael (Rachel) Russo of Washington; three grandchildren, Kaya, Samaya and Raya Russo; his former wife, Loretta Russo of Washington; and several nieces and nephews and relatives in Italy, Argentina and Venezuela.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Angelo Russo.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where a prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington.
