Finleyville man arrested, accused of sexually assaulting teen

A 49-year-old Finleyville man was arrested Friday by Carroll Township police on charges he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl at a township residence last year.

Russell William Robertson of 5141 Chevy Chase Road is charged by Carroll police with four counts each of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors.

The alleged victim reported the incidents to police last month. She told police that on four occasions during a three-month period from August through October, she was touched inappropriately by Robertson. Police said the victim had gone to a Carroll home to visit a friend, and Robertson was living there at the time.

Robertson allegedly gave alcoholic beverages to the 15-year-old girl and her friends. He then allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with the victim while she was in an intoxicated stupor, police said.

During a forensic interview with a Washington County Children and Youth Services investigator, the girl confirmed her account of what allegedly happened with Robertson.

Robertson was arraigned on the charges before District Judge Mark Wilson. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday in Central Court.
