Dorothy J. Bamberger
She was born August l2, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of Clarence David and Elizabeth “Jennie” Kent Young.
Mrs. Bamberger was proud of being raised in Washington’s West End and graduated from Washington High School. She enjoyed attending the annual West End reunions.
She earlier was employed as a clerk at Sears and the former Montgomery Ward department stores.
Mrs. Bamberger enjoyed doing needlework and ceramics.
She was a longtime member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church, where she was a loyal member of the choir and the Woman’s Missionary Society.
In her neighborhood, she was a member of Prosperity Homemakers and Morris Township Historical Society.
On May 14, 1944, she married Lee W. Bamberger, who died September 24, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Donald Lee (Pam) Bamberger of Amity; two daughters, Sharon A. (Dale) Whitmer of Amity and Karen J. (Richard) Lucas of Prosperity; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
Deceased are a grandson, Arthur Lee Bamberger, and an infant brother, Rodman Young.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home Inc., 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, with the Rev. Larry Deemer officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
