GREENSBURG (AP) — A Western Pennsylvania man who has since become an exemplary husband and father has been sentenced to eight to 16 years in prison for killing his sister’s then-boyfriend sometime in the early 1990s.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Westmoreland County Judge Al Bell on Thursday told 44-year-old Robert Daniels, of Unity Township, that his new life doesn’t excuse his old crim.

Authorities believe Curtis Eutsey was killed sometime between April 1990, when he was last seen, and November 1992. That’s when Eutsey’s ex-girlfriend claimed Daniels — her brother — told her he killed Eutsey.

Daniels later blamed the killing on his brother, who won’t be charged in the crime. Daniels finally confessed to police two years ago after DNA identified remains found in a wooded area as Eutsey’s. Daniels pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in October.
