Paul Robert Howard, 59, of Valley Grove, W.Va., died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, following a four-month illness.


He was born June 19, 1953, in Washington, a son of the late Arthur W. Howard Sr. and Lela Bell Camp Howard.


Mr. Howard was a computer manager for McKinley and Associates.


He was affiliated with West Alexander United Methodist Church.


Mr. Howard was a devoted family man.


He was a member of Wildlife League of Ohio County and enjoyed target shooting, RVing and listening to music. He loved time spent on his computer. He was also a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals.


Mr. Howard served peace-time in the U.S. Army.


On June 18, 1988, he was married in West Alexander United Methodist Church to Alicia L. Midcap, who survives, along with five children, Paul Howard Jr. of Wheeling, W.Va., Jennifer (Douglas) Goodwell of Rhome, Texas, Sherri Mae (Thomas J. Donley) Howard of Wheeling and Samantha and Amanda Howard, both at home; a brother, Arthur W. “Bill” (Charlotte) Howard Jr. of Washington; a sister, Margaret (Richard) Slack of Fairmount City. He was close to several members of his extended family.


Deceased, in addition to his parents, is an infant sister.


Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home Inc., 420 Locust Ave., Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, with the Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
