Don’t back in to spaces

Most newcomers to Washington are unaware that, if you back into a parking space in one of the metered city lots, you’ll get a traffic ticket.

Posted signs read, “Head in parking only.” However, there is no warning that if you back into the parking space, you’ll be fined. A young man found this out on his first day of volunteering at the food pantry. He fed the parking meter for his three-hour stint at the pantry, but backed into the space and ended up with a $25 fine.

Welcome to Washington!
