Jacob R. Wright Sr., 84, of Brownsville, Denbo Heights, died Saturday, January 26, 2013, in Uniontown Hospital.


He was born January 23, 1929, in Daisytown, a son of the late Henry Sherman and Margaret Tatrai Wright.


Mr. Wright was a 1949 graduate of Centerville High School.


In 1984, he retired from J&L Steel River Boat Division, where he had worked as a deckhand and watchman for 26 years and also worked on the Fredericktown Ferry for five years.


Mr. Wright enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards.


On June 11, 1960, he married Lila Gail Jennings, who survives.


Surviving, in addition to his wife, are eight children, Wallace Wright (Ava) of California, Jo Ann Gugal (Larry Knox) of Uniontown, Michael Wright (Mary) of Fayetteville, N.C., Renee Townsend of McClellantown, Barry L. Wright (Tracee) and Janice Marinelli (Walter), both of Denbo Heights, Jackie Flick (Brian) of Salix and Jacob Wright Jr (Angie Floyd) of Cardale; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearle Comer (James) of Niles, Ohio, Ruth List (John) of Diamond Head, Miss., and Jean Bogus of Claremont, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.


Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Harold Wright.


Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at noon, Tuesday, January 29, with Pastor David Benner and the Rev. Roger Laktash co-officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mt. St. Macrina, 520 West Main Street, Uniontown, PA 15401.
