Greene County Habitat for Humanity received a boost Saturday when a dozen employees from Consol Energy volunteered their time.

The employees who work in Consol Energy’s Southwestern Pennsylvania gas operations teamed up to help build a home in Crucible. They spent the day hanging drywall and insulating walls, floors and ducts.

Consol employees are encouraged to volunteer and become active in the communities in which they live and work.

“We work very hard at being good neighbors, and this can only be accomplished through our dedication to our top three core values and our interaction and involvement within the community,” said Sam McLaughlin, vice president of land services. “Since the inception of the SWPA gas operations, we have worked diligently to carry on the Consol tradition and be very involved in community activities.”

This is the second year CONSOL Energy employees have partnered with Greene County Habitat for Humanity. McLaughlin, who is a member of the board for Habitat for Humanity, praised the organization.

“Greene County Habitat provides affordable housing to over 100 families. This can only be accomplished through the hard work of the local Habitat volunteers. All of the housing is built with volunteer labor. We have many employees with the proper skills to help out and we wanted to be a part of a much needed program in the county. Everyone wants and needs a home. Habitat is one organization that is working towards that need. The group at SWPA is more than happy to lend a hand and volunteer for a great cause.”

The CONSOL Energy team of volunteers included Luke Beebe, Joe Berry Jr., Vince Black, Nick Bozek, Brian Green, Kim Harris, Matt Imrich, Joe Kafton, Anthony Kendziora, Travis Rastoka and Matt Rockey.
