C-H library plans adult spelling bee

Friends of Chartiers-Houston Community Library are recruiting teams of local “spellers” for their first Adult Extreme Spelling Bee, which will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. March 8 at Chartiers-Houston High School.

Teams of three adults will compete for the “Best of the Hive” title. While the bee’s rules are similar to the Scripps-Howard Spelling Bee, the purpose of the event is to have fun. Spectator participation is encouraged, and will include the option to “save” your favorite team with a “pass.” A small fee will be charged.

Team entry fee is $150. All proceeds will support the work of Friends of the Chartiers-Houston Community Library. Each member of the winning team will receive a trophy and a prize basket.

Team registration forms must be received by Feb. 22. Registration forms can be obtained at the library, or call the library at 724-745-4300 to receive a faxed form.
