Waynesburg Central students recognized
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Julia Camps and Alexander Sielski have been selected as Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for January.
Camps, daughter of Brenda Camps of Waynesburg and Tom Camps of Washington, maintains a 3.85 grade-point average.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, student council, Youth Alive, SADD, stage crew, varsity club, library service, and is president of the ski club, vice president of Alpha Beta and vice president of Fellowship for Christian Athletes.
Camps is a four-year letterman in soccer, serving as captain this year. She holds the school record for most shutouts in a season and least number of goals allowed in a season.
Outside school, she is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg, Crossroads Youth Ministry, a volunteer in the church nursery and is a volunteer soccer coach.
Camps plans to attend Slippery Rock University and major in physical education and health.
Sielski, son of Paul and Mary Sielski of Waynesburg, maintains a 4.0 grade-point average.
He is a member of Penn Serve and chorus and is a member of the high school theater group and track team. He has received academic honors in English, physics and chemistry.
Outside school, Sielski is a member of St. Ann Church, where he volunteers at the soup kitchen and plays piano and organ.
Sielski plans to attend Waynesburg University and major in criminal justice.
