Charges pending: Cody Patnesky, 21, of 102 W. College St., Canonsburg, will be charged by Canonsburg police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly punching Nicole Martinez, 129 Greenside Ave., in the face and breaking her cellphone during an incident at her home Saturday. The charges will be filed at the office of District Judge David Mark.
Harassment, disorderly charges: Zang Yan Zhu, 60, of 442 Blaine Ave., Canonsburg, will be charged by Canonsburg police with harassment and disorderly conduct for allegedly having improper contact with an employee at Shop ’n Save, 617 W. Pike St., Sunday.
Items stolen: Stephen Emory of 521 Blaine Ave. told Canonsburg police Saturday a laptop computer and guitar were stolen from his home.
Man jailed: Leonard J. Skubic, 49, of McKees Rocks, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with retail theft, accused of stealing $32.50 worth of cosmetics about 2:40 p.m. Jan. 8 from a Dollar General at 514 Fallowfield Ave., court records show. Skubic is in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set Monday by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Jewelry, cash stolen: Dean Brooks of 351 Cloverdale Ave. told Chartiers police Monday that jewelry, money and a debit card were stolen from his home.
Two hurt: Holly Matusik, 43, and her passenger, Alberta Simpson, 44, both of 45 1/2 S. Richhill St., Waynesburg, were injured Friday afternoon when their vehicle went off Route 18 near Crossroads Road and hit some trees before coming to rest in a creek.
Liquor violation: The owners of the J&J Hotel, Railroad Street, face violations filed by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for allegedly failing to clean the beer tap system on schedule and having an insufficient food supply to qualify as a hotel. The violations allegedly occurred between September and November.
Shingles stolen: Thirty-six bundles of shingles, valued at $1,200, were stolen from the 300 block of Hedgerow Drive, Venetia, before 9:30 a.m. Monday, township police said.
Retail theft: An Eighty Four woman, Ashley N. O’Brien of Wilson Road, will be charged by summons for allegedly stealing $359 in groceries Friday from Giant Eagle, 2007 Washington Road, McMurray, township police said. She attempted to pay for the groceries with a check that was refused because she has an outstanding bad check at the grocery store, police said. She then allegedly left the store with the groceries. O’Brien will be charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.
Student charged: A 15-year-old township girl was found with several different prescription drugs that were not prescribed to her at Peters Township High School at 8:30 a.m. Friday, township police said. A juvenile allegation was filed. She also was found with three prescription bottles that are her medication, police said.
Man arrested: Evan C. Siegel, 25, of Galley Road, McMurray, will be charged with criminal mischief, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he allegedly kicked in windows at businesses at Donaldsons Crossroads shopping center at 7:37 p.m. Sunday, township police said. He was found near Kmart at the McDowell Shoppes. Charges will be filed once a damage amount is finalized.
One injured: A Pittsburgh woman, Ellen J. Caruso, was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital following a two-vehicle accident at 5:56 p.m. Saturday, township police said. Caruso, 61, of Scherling Street, was flown to Allegheny General Hospital following the accident in the 300 block of Valley Brook Road. She complained of chest pain and had to be extricated from her car by firefighters from Peters and North Strabane townships after it went down a 10-foot embankment. Police said a vehicle driven by John T. Breiding, 17, of Friar Lane, McMurray, and Caruso’s car collided. Breiding was not injured.
Man to be charged: John E. Bodkin, 52, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, will be charged with disorderly conduct by South Strabane police for allegedly stealing $5.13 from the candy sample box at Giant Eagle, Strabane Square, Friday. Store security had suspected him of thefts in the past and placed marked money in the box. He was apprehended by security while reaching inside the box, police said.
Jewelry stolen: Deborah Yarneak of 17 Parkview Drive, Finleyville, told Southwest Regional police her home was entered Jan. 7 and an engagement ring, diamond pendant, diamond bracelet and earrings and a men’s sapphire and diamond ring were stolen.
Ring stolen: Christina Wyno of 5020 Norman Ave., Finleyville, told Southwest Regional police a diamond ring was stolen from her home Jan. 17.
Shot fired: Josh Heyl of 349 Mingo Church Road, Finleyville, told Southwest Regional police a shot was fired through his mailbox Jan. 23.
False ID charge: Harry Dennis Jr., 44, of 161 Hall Ave., faces a charge of giving false identification to law enforcement after police received a report of a man assaulting a woman Monday morning. Dennis first told officers his name was Donald, but police were able to obtain his correct identification. The woman Dennis allegedly was assaulting did not want to press charges, but police recommended she obtain a protection-from-abuse order on him.
Machines hit: The owner of the Beer Stop, 1006 W. Chestnut St., reported that two soft drink machines were broken into Sunday or Monday. Police said locks on the machines were broken, and about $100 in cash was stolen.
