Natalie Joy Engel and Jacob Andrew Carter were united in marriage December 22, 2012, in Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church with Pastor Doug Reinard officiating the 2:30 p.m. ceremony.
The bride’s parents are Jerry Engel and Tracey and Eric Fasnacht, all of McDonald. Her grandparents are Joylene Markish of Avella, Barbara Fasnacht of Washington, Mary Jane Engel of McDonald and the late Jack Engel.
Parents of the bridegroom are Robert and Wanda Carter of McDonald. His grandparents are Robert L. and Linda Carter of Avella, the late Eleanor Yanovich and the late Kenneth and Ruby Johnson.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Jerry Engel.
Maid of honor was Chelsey Engel of Pittsburgh, sister of the bride.
Best man was Matthew Loeffler of Pittsburgh. Ushers were Bernard Guidos of Bel Air, Md., uncle of bride, and Eric Fasnacht of McDonald, stepfather of bride.
Readers were Leah Zofchak of Canonsburg and Joshua Strnisa of Hickory.
A reception was held at Jeremiah’s in Washington.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Fort Cherry High School; a 2009 graduate of Penn State Behrend, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology; and a 2011 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a master’s degree. She is a genetic counselor/research coordinator in Pittsburgh.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and a 2008 graduate of Penn State Behrend, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. He is an engineer in Pittsburgh.
The newlyweds took a honeymoon trip to Jamaica and make their home in Hickory.
