Canonsburg woman was family oriented

Joyce A. Guzel, 50, of Canonsburg, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, after a brief illness, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born February 6, 1963, in Washington, a daughter of Robert and Melba Conner McVay of Scenery Hill, who survives.

Mrs. Guzel was a graduate of Bentworth High School, Class of 1981.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Guzel lived in Canonsburg for the last 29 years, and at one time worked for Kusturiss’ law firm, Toys “R” Us and Eighty Four and Hickory auctions. Mrs. Guzel also was a devoted housewife who was very family oriented, enjoyed working on Oak Spring’s farm, cooking and crafts.

On October 15, 1983, she married her beloved husband, Frank Guzel Jr., who survives.

Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, are a daughter, Amanda (Shawn Miller) Guzel of Washington; a son, Travis “T” (fiancee Sara Egger) of Canonsburg; a granddaughter, Sarah Miller; a sister, Christine (Brian) Keeley of Winterport, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 18, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
