Youth summit planned
Youth in Action and other local youth groups will host a Youth Summit beginning at 4 p.m. March 7.
The event will be held at West Sides in West Waynesburg , 595 West High St., and will run until 8:30 p.m.
Children in grades six and up are welcomed to attend. Admission is free.
The evening will include fun, food, fellowship, music, door prizes and a message from the Rev. Brent Furlong.
Furlong is the associate pastor at Nottingham Christian Center in Eighty Four and the founder of Go Time Ministries, a non-profit, non-denominational ministry that aims to spread the word of God.
Furlong has established youth ministries in Charleroi, Finleyville, McKeesport and Clairton, and recently Go Time purchased two adjoining town homes in a housing project in Clairton, which youth and adult volunteers are rehabilitating and turning into a permanent youth center where students can gather after school. Waynesburg just so happens to be his next stop.
Furlong serves on the board of mission organizations, including One to the Other Ministries and Joshua Unlimited, and this month he led one of the four international mission trips planned for this year to establish youth ministries.
Furlong said his intention is to “help kids grow in the grace and knowledge of God.”
Youth Summit is a series of events that will be used to connect young people with positive activities that happen in Greene County. The activities give young adults the opportunity to grow closer to Christ while spending time with friends and community members.
