Former Lone Pine resident enjoyed helping others
Clinton R.V. “Night Flyer” Guthrie Jr., 84, of Amherst, Ohio, formerly of Lone Pine, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in Oak Hills Nursing Center, Lorain, Ohio.
He was born July 9, 1928, in Washington, a son of the late Clinton Guthrie Sr. and Alice Stephens Guthrie Ballard.
Mr. Guthrie attended Sowers school.
For more than 35 years, he worked for BF Goodrich, from where he retired.
Mr. Guthrie was a humorous man who enjoyed helping others. He enjoyed teaching line dancing and volunteering at the library reading to children.
Surviving are three sisters, Sarah Jean Wright of Lone Pine, Virginia Berne of Jacksonville, N.C., and Alice Ballard White of Hamden, Conn.; five grandchildren; special friends Dave and Missy Widman of Lorain; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Joan Hlipala Guthrie; a son, Clinton John Guthrie; and a 7-month-old daughter, Joan Louise Guthrie.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, February 24, in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 3 p.m. Private interment will be held in Lone Pine Cemetery.
