Beloved husband, cherished father

Wayne T. Alderson, 86, of Pleasant Hills, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy Holt Alderson for 60 years; cherished father of Nancy Jean McDonnell and husband Pat; brother of Lillie Shannon and Jeanne Alderson; and proud grandfather of Patrick Wayne McDonnell.

Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

Mr. Alderson was a veteran of World War II and was the first American soldier to cross into Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Silver Star and other medals for his heroic service.

He was the founder and chief executive officer of Value of the Person Consultants, teaching the principles of love, dignity and respect in the work world. He was known as a peacemaker in various industries throughout the country.

Mr. Alderson was a nationally recognized speaker and spiritual leader.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, in Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church.
