Aldene Lemmon Nicholls
Devoted mother, grandmother, OES member
Aldene Lemmon Nicholls, 90, of Washington, formerly of Scenery Hill, died Monday, February 25, 2013, in the home of her son in Eighty Four.
She was born March 21, 1922, in Gilmore Township, Greene County, the only daughter of the late Harry E. and Cassie Main Lemmon.
Mrs. Nicholls received her elementary education at Garrison School near Jollytown. She was a 1939 graduate of Trinity High School.
At the time of her death, she was a member of Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four. She was a member of Martha V. Paul Chapter 404 Order of the Eastern Star of Washington.
She enjoyed reading and was a devoted mother and grandmother. For more than 24 years, she and her late husband were winter residents of Florida, for as long as their health permitted.
On May 1, 1940, she married Charles E. Nicholls, who died February 9, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Allan R. Nicholls Sr. of Haines City, Fla., and Lonnie C. Nicholls Sr. (Dorie) of Eighty Four; three grandchildren, Lonnie C. Nicholls Jr. (Kris), Kristy Wood (Jerry) and Allan R. Nicholls Jr. (Jamie); nine great-grandchildren, Bradley, Joshua, Cameron, Oylan, Braden, twins, Riley and Regan Nicholls, Kylee and Jeremy Wood; a sister-in-law, Thelma Lemmon of Uniontown; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Nicholls was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a granddaughter, Jody Nicholls, and three brothers, Joseph, Kennis and Charles Lemmon.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, and 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of services, Friday, March 1, in Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, with Pastor Fran Skariot officiating.
