Numerous people recently appeared in Washington County Court on criminal charges.


Appearing before Judge Katherine Emery were:


Chaz Heintz, 19, of 20 Jupiter St., Cecil; possession of a small amount of marijuana; charged Dec. 16 for possessing a small amount of marijuana near Georgetown and Valleybrook roads in Cecil Township; sentence – 30 days of probation.


William Roberts, 44, of 908 Rostraver St., Monessen; unsworn falsification; charged June 8, 2011, after telling police he had never been arrested before and for failing to comply with sexual offender registration requirements; sentence – 2 months to 12 months in jail.


Joshua Hellen, 21, of 130 Reservoir Hill Road, Jefferson; possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia; charged following a traffic stop Aug. 12 along Morton Street in Millsboro; sentence – 12 months of probation.


Jesse Alan Jenkins, 19, of 135 W. College St., Canonsburg; possession of drug paraphernalia; charged after police found him to be in possession of a glass pipe April 21 along South Central Avenue in Canonsburg; sentence – Probation Without Verdict program for 12 months.


Joshua A. Billion, 25, of 123 ½ Main St., New Eagle; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; charged June 14 for selling heroin to a confidential informant at his residence; sentence – 6 to 23 months in jail.


Cody Coyle, 19, of 12 Hutchinson Ave., Apt. B, Canonsburg; possession of drug paraphernalia; charged April 21 after police responded to an incident along South Central Avenue in Canonsburg; sentence – Probation Without Verdict program for 12 months.


Anthony Nasal, 64, of 120 Nasal Lane, Finleyville; neglect of care of a dependent person, first offense of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance; charged for hitting his elderly mother on July 6; charged following a one-vehicle crash Dec. 3, 2011, at Route 136 and Chapel Hill Road, Nottingham Township; sentence – 15 to 36 months in jail, $1,000 fine, 12-month license suspension.


Erika Lundell, 35, of 352 Freeport Road, Apt. 2, Pittsburgh; two counts of DUI; charged Jan. 2, 2012, after police found her slumped over in her vehicle while parked at the Cougar Mini Mart in North Charleroi for having a BAC of 0.305 percent; charged Jan. 25, 2012, after police found her in a vehicle with two flat tires along Route 43 with a blood-alcohol content of 0.273 percent; sentence – 180 days to 18 months in jail, $3,000 fine, 18-month license suspension.


Richard A. Grant, 21, of 435 Cross St., Brownsville; two counts of DUI, two counts of driving with a suspended license; charged following a traffic stop March 7 on Dally Road and Highpoint Drive in California in which he refused breath testing; charged Aug. 11, 2011, during a stop in Monongahela; sentence – 13 days to 12 months in jail, $1,400 fine, 12-month license suspension


Jay C. Plants, 40, of 135 Main St., Apt. B, West Alexander; third offense of DUI; charged following a traffic stop Feb. 25, 2012, on Old Brick Road near Interstate 70 in Donegal Township for having a BAC of 0.141 percent; sentence – 6 to 18 months of probation with the first 6 months on electronic home monitoring and the first 3 months on SCRAM-X, 18-month license suspension, $1,500 fine.


Eric John Michael Tarnik, 24, of 430 Chartiers Ave., Canonsburg; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two counts of DUI, theft by deception; charged for depositing bad checks at Washington Federal Bank on Pike Street in Canonsburg between November 2010 and January 2011; charged April 1 for selling cocaine to a confidential informant at Hickory and Oak streets in Cecil; charged April 27 following a two-vehicle crash on West Wylie Avenue in Canton Township for having a BAC of 0.232 percent; charged July 4 following a traffic stop at Technology Drive and Southpointe Boulevard in Cecil Township for having a BAC of 0.164 percent; sentence – 11 months and 20 days to 35 months of probation with the first 11 months and 20 days on electronic, home monitoring, ordered to pay $2,794 in restitution, 12-month license suspension.


Carly M. Grove, 23, of 355 North Main St., Washington; two counts of DUI; charged following a traffic stop March 22 along West Chestnut Street in Washington for having a BAC of 0.136 percent; charged Oct. 1 at Hall and Lewis avenues in Washington for having a BAC of 0.159 percent; sentence – 4 days to 6 months in jail followed by 12 months in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, $500 fine, 12-month license suspension.


Richard A. Brooks, 57, no address given; escape; charged for failing to return to jail after he was given a temporary furlough to seek employment while serving time in 2002; sentence – 30 days to 12 months in jail.


Brett E. Folk, 41, of 209 McShane Ave., Canonsburg; first offense of DUI; charged following a two-vehicle crash in the 100 block of Franklin Farms Road, Washington, after he refused a breath test; sentence – 72 hours to 6 months in jail, $1,000 fine.
