SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Karvel Anderson scored 24 points and Lucky Jones scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half as Robert Morris beat Bryant 77-75 Thursday night to clinch the Northeast Conference regular-season title.

The Colonials (13-4, 21-9), who have won four straight, will play at home in the conference tournament as long as they continue winning.

Jones’ 3-pointer gave Robert Morris a 60-59 lead with 5:46 remaining, and he scored another 10 points the rest of the way. Velton Jones added 12 points.

The Colonials committed one turnover in the second half to Bryant’s nine, helping them overcome 68.4 percent second-half shooting (13 of 19) by the Bulldogs (11-6, 18-10).

Alex Francis, who led Bryant with 22 points and 11 rebounds, scored 14 first-half points as Bryant took a 37-31 lead.

Frankie Dobbs scored 18 points and Dyami Sparks 17 for Bryant, which beat Robert Morris 84-77 Jan. 3.

No. 16 Ohio State 63, Northwestern 53: Lenzelle Smith scored a season-high 24 points, Deshaun Thomas added 19 and No. 16 Ohio State used a late run to beat Northwestern 63-53.

The Buckeyes (11-5 Big Ten, 21-7) moved one-half game ahead of Michigan and took sole possession of fourth place in the Big Ten with another difficult win over a team that’s given it fits in recent years.

This time, they led by 11 points early in the second half and regrouped after Northwestern took the lead, sending the Wildcats (4-12, 13-16) to their sixth straight loss and eighth in nine games.

Northwestern led by a point twice in the second half and was up 49-48 with about 4 minutes remaining. But Ohio State outscored the Wildcats 15-4 the rest of the way.

No. 25 Louisiana Tech 84, Utah State 61: Brandon Gibson scored 20 points, Raheem Appleby added 15 and No. 25 Louisiana Tech cruised to an 84-61 victory over Utah State in its first game as a nationally ranked team since 1985.

Louisiana Tech (15-0 WAC, 25-3) never left anything in doubt, taking a 15-2 lead in the opening minutes on the way to a 49-23 halftime advantage. It was a surprisingly lopsided game considering the Bulldogs beat Utah State (9-6, 19-8) 51-48 in Logan, Utah, Jan. 26

Louisiana Tech used its constant full-court press and deep bench to frustrate the Aggies. The Bulldogs are on a 17-game winning streak that has lasted more than two months.

North Carolina 68, Clemson 59: Dexter Strickland tied his season high with 16 points and North Carolina reached the 20-win mark for the ninth straight season with a 68-59 victory over Clemson.

The Tar Heels (10-5 ACC, 20-8) won a season-high fourth straight in league play and took their 15th in the past 16 games with the Tigers (5-10, 13-14). Strickland led all five North Carolina starters in double figures. Reggie Bullock added 12 points and nine rebounds, while James Michael McAdoo and P.J. Hairston had 11 points each. Marcus Paige scored 10.

Devin Booker had 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Tigers, who lost their third straight and for the sixth time in the past seven games. Milton Jennings also had a double-double for Clemson with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
