Consol Energy recently presented a check for $7,811 to the Charleroi Area School District. The money represents the value of electricity generated during the first two months of operation of a waste methane-fueled, low-emission microturbine at Consol Energy’s Fallowfield Township gas processing plant. Consol partnered with Capstone Turbine Corp.’s mid-Atlantic distributor, E-Finity Distributed Generation, to install the microturbine in early 2012. Consol obtained partial funding for the project through a grant from the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority.
