Area men indicted on federal drug charges
U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton released the names of four former and current Washington men indicted by a federal grand jury on drug and firearm charges. Six other men from Pittsburgh, North Versailles, Monessen and Michigan were also named in the indictment.
Demetrious Levy, 42, formerly of 411 Grove Ave., Tierone Barnes, 30, formerly of 700 Donnan Ave., Brandon “B/Wise” Wise, 29, formerly of 133 Maple Ave., and Ronald Glass, 42, of 1285 Sycamore St., were indicted by the attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania on drug charges related to the distribution of 1 kilogram or more of heroin.
All four men were charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin. Levy is charged with nine separate incidents of distributing less than 100 grams of heroin in and around Washington.
Levy and Wise were charged with one count each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count each of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The men would face sentences of 10 years to life imprisonment as well as a fine up to $10 million if convicted. Assistant U.S. attorney Barbara K. Swartz is the federal government’s prosecutor in the case.
The other men named in the indictment were Javon Harvey, 36, formerly of West Bloomfield, Mich., Terrell Williams, 33, of Pittsburgh, Carl Thompson, 34, formerly of Detroit, Mich., Keontae Spears, 29, formerly of North Versailles, Jamie Argyle, 24 of Duquesne, and Donte Newton, 28, formerly of Monessen.
In 2011, Wise faced home invasion charges in a case that was ultimately dismissed. Wise was accused of entering a Canton Township man’s home on Baird Avenue in July 2010, pointing a firearm at his head and demanding money.
