Accelerated Reader program
A $10,000 EIO Fund grant sponsored by Consol Energy through the Washington County Community Foundation was awarded to McGuffey School District in support of its Accelerated Reader program. During a recent visit to Joe Walker Elementary School, Laural Ziemba, director of community relations with Consol Energy, discussed the implementation of the grant with district administrators and met several students who are performing well in the program. She also read a story to the top point earners. The EIO Fund is one of three funds created by WCCF to accept corporate gifts through the commonwealth’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. With financial support from its many corporate partners, the WCCF has awarded more than $430,000 from its EIO Fund to public schools in Washington County.
