Jefferson-Morgan students recognized
The Clarksville Area Lions Club has named its students of the month for March and April from Jefferson-Morgan High School.
Mateusz “Mati” Zeglen, son of Mike and Linda Zeglen of Rices Landing, is the student of the month for March. Zeglen is a member of National Honor Society, yearbook staff, chorus, foreign language club, soccer team, football team and track team. His outside activities include snowboarding, fishing, hunting and biking. Zeglen was named a Herald Standard Newspaper scholar athlete, and a Challenge Program Award winner for being in the top 10 percent of his class. He volunteers with the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department, at wrestling tournaments and with the Southwest Regional Medical Center. Zeglen plans to attend the Penn State University nursing program.
Kasey Thistlethwaite, daughter of Beverly Thistlethwaite of Clarksville, is the student of the month for April. Thistlethwaite participates as the secretary of National Honor Society, vice president of the Leo Club, member of the marching band, member of the Youth Traffic Safety Council, member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, drama club, Upward Bound, County Band and the Community Band. She has received the Presidential Award and the Academic Excellence Award. Thistlethwaite has volunteered with the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Red Cross blood drives and at benefit dinners in the community. She plans to go to Seton Hill University to major criminal justice with a minor in forensic science.
