Five earn honors at PIAA swimming, diving meet

Peters Township had four swimmers and one diver pick up honorable mention all-state honors on the final day of the PIAA Class AAA swim and dive championships yesterday at Bucknell University.

Saoirse Palu-Benson finished 12th in the girls 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 1.80 seconds.

On the boys side, Kyle Higgins was 12th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.79. Chris Buzard posted a 14th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 58.70.

Diver Cody Pyles was 16th with a score of 362.70 in the 1-meter event, while Dan Pletz was 16th in the backstroke with a time of 52.98 seconds.
