WAYNESBURG – Several criminal defendants pleaded guilty Wednesday before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman. They included the following:


Marlene Lucille Ansel, 41, of 3254 Old McClellandtown Road, McClellandtown; offense – driving under the influence of alcohol. Ansel was arrested May 29 after Cumberland Township police witnessed her hitting a parking pillar with her car in front of the Paisley Sheetz store. Ansel failed sobriety tests. Her blood-alcohol content was 0.166 percent; sentence – 72 hours to 6 months in jail, 25 hours community service, $1,000 fines, plus fees and court costs.


Kory J. Moss, 23, of 24 N. Washington St., Waynesburg; offenses – theft by unlawful taking and bad checks. On July 9 Moss took jewelry from the residence of Jamie Grim at 799 Race St., Waynesburg, while dog sitting for Grim. Moss also was charged with writing a bad check for services performed by Dr. Steven Pinelli; sentence – 3 months to 23 ½ months in jail, restitution of $3,805.43 to Grim, restitution of $1,780 to Pinelli, $750 fines, plus fees and court costs.


Jennifer Lynn Hughes, 32, of 632 Walnut Hill Road, Dilliner; offenses – endangering the welfare of a child, hindering apprehension or prosecution, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. On July 6 police went to the Hughes’ residence looking for Hughes’ husband, Duane, who was considered a fugitive. When police entered the residence, Hughes ran into a rear bedroom. Police detected a pungent burning odor the defendant identified as crack cocaine. She told police that she and her husband had been smoking the substance. A 6-year-old child was taken from the residence and placed into the care of a relative; sentence – 30 days to 23 ½ months in jail, $500 fines, 100 hours of community service, plus fees and court costs.
