Numerous people appeared recently in Washington County Court on criminal charges.

Appearing before Judge Katherine Emery were:

Gwendolyn Layhue, 37, of 213 Fifth St., Charleroi; disorderly conduct, furnishing drug-free urine; charged Sept. 13 after setting a bathroom on fire at the Myford Hotel, Charleroi, and attempting to provide drug-free urine out of a prescription pill bottle she had on her person at the Donora police station; sentence – 12 months of probation.

Charles Park, 50, of 448 N. Main St., Apt. 10, Washington; delivery of a controlled substance; charged Aug. 27 after selling heroin to an informant in Canonsburg.

Melvin D. Manes, 60, of 595 Maple Ave., Apt. 2, Washington; driving with a suspended license; charged Feb. 4, 2012, during a traffic stop; sentence – of 30 days to 6 months probation, $500 fine.

Kenneth Serrano, 49, of 1710 Main St., Apt. 102, Pittsburgh; simple assault; charged Oct. 6 for punching and throwing his girlfriend at 422 Fallowfield Ave., Apt. 1, Charleroi, with the victim later taken to Allegheny General Hospital; sentence – 6 to 23 months probation, anger management classes, no contact with victim.

Scott A. Gill, 23, of 48 Manor Drive, Bulger; forgery, theft; charged for stealing and cashing 13 checks, from June 25 to Aug. 27, from his employer, 1 All Pro Roofing; sentence – 4 to 23 months of probation and ordered to pay $5,401 in restitution.

Stacy Stelma, 39, of 45 Mowery Lane, Fredericktown; delivery of a controlled substance; charged Sept. 5 during a controlled buy in Fredericktown; sentence – 3 to 23 months of probation with the first 3 months on home monitoring.

Jamie I. Santiago, 29, of 510 Washington Ave., Charleroi; criminal mischief, disorderly conduct; charged June 12 for fighting with another female in a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Washington Avenue, Charleroi; sentence – $300 fine.

Guy M. Gump, 29, of 37 Main St., Shinnston, W.Va.; second offense of driving under the influence of alcohol; charged Jan. 9, 2012, following a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 south half-mile south of Racetrack Road, with a BAC of 0.128 percent; sentence – 45 days to 6 months probation with the first 45 days on home monitoring, $750 fine.

Amanda Mazon, 28, of 119 Brady Ave., Washington; four counts of burglary; charged for incidents on May 27, June 5 and two on June 9, 2010, in the 300 block of Moon Road, Chartiers Township; sentence – 3 years of probation, with 1 to 2 years to be served on home monitoring, ordered to pay $7,437 in restitution.

Francis Falcon, 30, of 370 Duncan Ave., Apt. 3, Washington; receiving stolen property, criminal mischief; charged for slashing all four tires of a car parked at 996 Jefferson Ave., Washington, on Aug. 11, 2011, and for ordering a driver of a vehicle to get out of his car at gunpoint and then taking the car in the 400 block of Addison St., Washington on Sept. 16, 2011; sentence – 9 to 23 months in jail with work release.

James Shultz, 49, of 412 Houston St., Washington; disorderly conduct; charged Aug. 25 at a yard sale held at 76 W. Hallam Ave., Washington; sentence – $50 fine.

Richard C. Long, 33, of 417 Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris; simple assault; charged Sept. 7 for assaulting a Washington female at 277 Laurie Lane, Amwell Township; sentence – 2 years of probation; $50 restitution, anger management program.

Corry S. Mays, 37, of 533 Park Ave., Canonsburg; simple assault; charged July 18 for hitting, kicking and tackling his 14-year-old stepson at their home; sentence – 12 months of high impact probation with the first 3 months on home monitoring with work release, anger management program, drug and alcohol evaluation.
Nathan D. Cataldo, 21, of 800 Scenic Drive, Washington; second offense of DUI; charged following a single vehicle crash on Nov. 29 at Toll 43, California Borough, with a blood-alcohol content of 0.186 percent; sentence – 32 days in jail followed by 60 days on home monitoring, $1,500 fine, 18-month license suspension.
