WAYNESBURG – An assistant manager at the Sheetz Store in Franklin Township was arrested by state police and charged with stealing more than $10,000 from the store by making fraudulent lottery payouts and fraudulent refunds.
Theresa Michell Dollard, 55, of 125 Easy St., Waynesburg, was arraigned Friday before District Judge Glenn Bates on charges of theft and receiving stolen property. She was released on unsecured bond and faces a preliminary hearing Thursday.
A loss investigation agent reported to state police that Dollard had stolen $10,937.33 from the store between Jan. 20 and March 19, according to the criminal complaint.
Of that amount, $9,247 was stolen by making fraudulent lottery payouts. According to the complaint, Dollard would enter the payout for supposed winning tickets into the Sheetz computer and collect the money; however, she failed to scan the winning tickets into the Pennsylvania Lottery terminal.
Records were provided showing the reported lottery winnings at Sheetz and the actual payouts provided to the company by the lottery. Financial records and photographic evidence showed Dollard making the transactions, the complaint said.
Similar evidence was provided showing Dollard making fraudulent refunds for items never purchased by customers.
Police said they interviewed Dollard and she admitted stealing money from the store to help her son, who was involved in a domestic situation in West Virginia and needed money for lawyer fees, and to pay off debt on her credit card.
