: Police beat April 21

Criminal mischief: State police said a hayfield owned by Kathryn E. Hixenbaugh, 73, of Avella was damaged. Someone drove onto her property on Neely School Road about 8 p.m. Wednesday then spun the vehicle, causing the damage, before fleeing on Neely School toward Green Cove Road.


Pair jailed: Sky T. Desensi, 37, of Washington, and Darren D. Cass, 28, of Avella, were arrested at 11 a.m. Friday in connection with the theft of items from two abandoned houses across from Town & Country Mobile Home Park on Route 844. State police said they received a call that two men driving a green sport utility vehicle were stealing items. Police searched the area, but did not find the suspects or vehicle. They alerted a local scrap yard to be on the lookout. The employee reported two men fitting the vehicle’s descriptions were there. Police took the pair into custody. Both are in the Washington County jail on $10,000 bond charged with theft by unlawful taking, burglary, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property. In addition, Deseni is charged with fraudulent use, and Cass with possession of a controlled substance.


I-79 crash: State police are investigating a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 79 that occurred about 1 p.m. Monday on Interstate 79. Jonelle Hamlin, 31, of Morgantown, W.Va., was heading northbound near Exit 43 when her vehicle left the road and struck a guardrail on the left shoulder, ending up on the median, according to police. She received moderate injuries and was transported for treatment. A boy in a car seat, from Morgantown, was uninjured. North Strabane Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted.

Injured in crash: Kellie J. Morrison, 25, of Pittsburgh, was treated at Canonsburg General Hospital for a minor injury following a two-vehicle accident at 8 a.m. Friday. Morrison was traveling west on West McMurray Road near Woodridge Drive when her vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, striking a vehicle that was stopped, according to police. The vehicle was operated by Thomas G. Fetcko, 58, of Canonsburg, and included a passenger, Rodney K. McCracken, 54, of Washington. Peters Township and Canonsburg emergency services responded.


Hurt in crash: State police said Douglas G. Morris, 18, of Claysville, sustained a minor injury following a one-car accident at 7:50 a.m. Thursday. Morris was traveling east on Beham Ridge Road near McDonald Road when, in response to bright sunlight, reached for sunglasses in an overhead console and lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, according to police. He was taken to Wheeling (W.Va.) Medical Center by Washington Ambulance & Chair Service.
