Mary Ann Long Kovalan Former realtor enjoyed entertaining
Mary Ann “Mimi” Long Kovalan, 70, died in her sleep at home Thursday, April 18, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
She was the beloved wife of 48 years to Danny Kovalan of Claysville; and loving mother of Devon (deceased), Kelle Johansen (Peter) of Minneapolis, Minn., and Reed (Kate) of Mt. Lebanon.
Mrs. Kovalan also leaves six grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Originally of Clarksburg, W.Va., she and her husband moved to Claysville in 1978 where she farmed their 32-acre homestead. She was also a realtor in Washington County for many years. She was an avid horsewoman and a fantastic cook. Later in her life, she took up card playing and always looked forward to her weekly Texas hold ’em card games with her Claysville friends. She always enjoyed entertaining and inviting her friends and family to her lake house in Deep Creek, Md.
Mrs. Kovalan always wanted to go to medical school, so her body was donated to science and has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh’s medical program.
A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced Sunday, June 23, with additional details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Claysville Fire Department, in her memory.
