William Charles Blacka Jr.

William Charles Blacka Jr., 58, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in Ewing Manor, Rogersville.


Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.


Robert M. Coyle Jr. North Side resident

Robert M. Coyle Jr., 69, of the North Side of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013.


He was a son of the late Robert and Betty Coyle; loving father of Toni Marie (Edward) Kuhn, Robert III (Leanne) Coyle, Elizabeth Ann (Stephen) Friel and Amy Coyle; and loving brother of Mary Ellen Sheehy, Paul, Catherine Walker. Also surviving are six grandchildren and nieces and nephews.


There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at noon Sunday, April 28, in Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home, 920 Cedar Avenue, Pittsburgh, across from Allegheny General Hospital. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Society.


Duane H. Dewalt U.S. Army veteran

Duane H. Dewalt, 66, of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in his home.


He was born April 27, 1946, in Canonsburg, a son of William and Hazel Engel Dewalt.


Mr. Dewalt was a 1964 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and he attended Technical School in Pittsburgh for two years.


He worked at RCA in Meadow Lands until it closed, Black Box Corp. and Giant Eagle.


Mr. Dewalt served in the U.S. Army.


He was a former member of Chartiers Lodge 297 F&AM, Canonsburg, and Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh.


On April 2, 1971, he married Rise Hammond, who survives.


Also surviving are three children, Ryan Dewalt (Candy) of Gilroy, Calif., Jill Estus (Mark) of McDonald and Andrew Dewalt (Nicole) of Spanaway, Wash.; four granddaughters, Emily and Sara Estus and Ambriel and Kalea Dewalt; mother-in-law Shirley Hammond of Washington; brother-in-law Paul Hammond (Debbie) of Dallas, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Harps (Carl) of Washington and Nancy Hammond of Clarksville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.


Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29. Interment will be private. Ruth Romayne Evans Homemaker enjoyed traveling worldwide

Ruth Romayne Evans, 82, of Brownsville, formerly of Malone Ridge Road, Canton Township, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, after having been diagnosed 50 years ago with multiple sclerosis.


She was born November 4, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of George D. Bungard Sr. and Grace R. Hatfield Bungard Nowlin.


Mrs. Evans graduated from Trinity High School in 1950 and was a homemaker.


She was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis National Chapter, AARP, Washington Senior Center and Center in the Woods, California.


Mrs. Evans also was a member of United Christian Church of California and a former member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church.


She enjoyed traveling worldwide, even while confined to a wheelchair, and also enjoyed wordsearch puzzles and bingo at the senior center.


On August 18, 1952, she married Harry E. Evans Sr., who survives.


Also surviving are a son, Harry E. “Butch” Evans Jr. and wife Marrie of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Diane Yurkovich and husband Peter of Washington; a sister, JoAnne Lederhos of Bailey, Colo.; two grandchildren, Evan Yurkovich and Danielle Haugh; and three great-grandchildren, William Evans Haugh, Sophia and Henry Haugh.


Deceased is a brother, George D. Bungard Jr.


Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, with the Rev. Jana Quisenberry officiating. Gertrude Demaske Kelly St. Hubert Church member known for her tomato garden

Gertrude Demaske Kelly, 87, of Point Marion, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, in Point Manor Personal Care Home.


She was born October 11, 1925, in Woodside, a daughter of the late Andrew and Leona Blout Demaske.


Mrs. Kelly was a member of St. Hubert Roman Catholic Church of Point Marion.


She was an avid gardener and was well-known for her tomato garden.


In addition to her parents, deceased are her husband of 61 years, Benjamin F. Kelly; two sons, Stanley and John Kelly; a daughter, Joann Ray; two brothers, John and Stanley Demaske; and a sister, Lorraine Michniak.


Surviving are two daughters, Marcia Kelly of Point Marion and Diane Ingland of Pittsburgh; a son, Benjamin F. Kelly Jr. of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Jessica Rinner, Rebecca Guyman, Keith Murphy, Bronson Ingland, Joshua Kelly and Stasha Ray; six great-grandchildren, Mason Kelly, Cameron Kelly, Abby Rinner, Neil Rinner, Beda Guseman and Clive Guyman; a sister, Cecilia Blackwood of Rock Hill, S.C.; and two brothers, Andrew Demaske of Rices Landing and Frank Demaske of Cleveland, Ohio.


Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Louis E. Rudolph Funeral Home, Thomas B. Rudolph, funeral director/supervisor, 15 Main Street, Point Marion, 724-725-5256, and until 10:30 a.m., when brief prayers will be said, Saturday, April 27, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Hubert Church, Point Marion, with the Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion. Parish wake service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.


Donald A. MacIvor Venetia resident was caring, genuine man

Donald A. MacIvor, 80, of Venetia, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 21, 2013.


Born August 20, 1932, he was a son of the late Angus and Catherine MacIvor.


Mr. MacIvor was the beloved husband of the late Theida MacIvor.


Left behind to cherish his memory are siblings Alena Gauthier, Cathy (Ray) Stocker and Gordon (Lucille) MacIvor; and brother-in-law Al (the late Jean MacIvor) Ellis. He was the beloved uncle of Jim (Jeanne) Ellis, Denny (Greg) Brock and Laura Gaertner. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.


Mr. MacIvor was a caring and genuine-hearted man who truly geared his life around others.


Friends and family are welcome to a graveside service with full military honors at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in support of the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Michael Marchines, 31, of Washington, died Thursday, April 25, 2013.

David M. Taylor Lifelong Moon Township resident

David M. Taylor, 61, a lifelong resident of Moon Township, passed away in his home Wednesday, April 24, 2013.


He was born October 27, 1951, in Ashtabula, Ohio, a son of the late Charles M. and Emma Naylor Taylor.


Mr. Taylor was a brother of Peter Taylor and wife Karen, and an uncle to Brian and Geoffrey. Also surviving are many cousins.


He was a 1969 graduate of Moon High School and retired from LTV Steel and Coraopolis Cemetery.


Memorial visitation will be held from 1 until the time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in Copeland Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Road. Burial will be private in Coraopolis Cemetery. Donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association.


W. Ralph Wright Proud U.S. Air Force veteran

Col. W. Ralph Wright, 92, born November 25, 1920, in Washington, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013.


He was the loving husband for 67 years of Carol Schuelke Wright and cherished father of Patricia, Regina, Lisa and Lori.


Also surviving are many grandchildren.


Col. Wright was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran.


Embracing full retirement, he enjoyed golf, fishing, painting, hunting, bowling, playing cards and giving much love and laughter to his wife, children, grandchildren and many friends.

Margaret Zappone Crucible homemaker

Margaret Zappone, 87, of Crucible, died Monday, April 22, 2013, in her home.


She was born March 12, 1926, in Dearborn, Mich.


Mrs. Zappone was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Crucible.


On June 23, 1945, she married Carl Zappone, who died October 8, 1991.


Surviving are two daughters, Carol Reese of Carmichaels and Marilyn Zappone of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sherri Davis, Gina Reese and Samuel Reese Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Damon Reese, Tyler Reese and Sydni Davis.
