Jules C. Vedis Sr. Coal mine shaft worker enjoyed the outdoors
Jules C. Vedis Sr., 68, of Waynesburg, died at 4:27 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Monday, September 11, 1944, in Waynesburg, a son of the late William Steve and Kathleen Parks Vedis.
Mr. Vedis was a lifelong resident of Greene County.
He loved hunting, fishing and anything that had to do with the outdoors. Mr. Vedis enjoyed mechanic work and country music, especially bluegrass. He also loved to attend square-dancing festivals.
Mr. Vedis worked in a coal mine as a shaft worker until August 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ann Lugo of California; two sons, Jules C. Vedis Jr. of Graysville and Jeremiah Vedis of La Plata, Md.; three grandchildren, Robert, Nevaeh and Maranda; three sisters, Virginia, Peggy and Rose; two brothers, George and Anthony; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Bill.
There will be a greeting of friends from 6 to 8 p.m., the hour of the memorial service, Wednesday, May 1, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370 with Pastor Cristy Wise officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
