The Steelers traded their third-round pick in next year’s draft to Cleveland to get an extra pick in this year’s fourth round of the NFL Draft. With that pick, No. 111 overall, they selected safety Shamarko Thomas of Syracuse. With their original pick in the fourth round (No. 115), they selected quarterback Landry Jones from Oklahoma.

In the fifth round, the Steelers selected cornerback Terry Hawthorne of Illinois.
