Two shot near Washington Hospital; suspects sought
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco was at home watching the end of Friday night’s “Blue Bloods” episode when he heard the sound of a couple booms.
“I thought it was firecrackers,” Warco said. “Then I heard my neighbor screaming to call 911. She had been shot.”
Washington police said two people were shot about 11 p.m. at a home at 194 E. Katherine Ave., just off Wilson Ave. near Washington Hospital.
A man, reportedly in his 60s, was shot three times in the groin area and a woman, believed to be in her 40s, was shot in the hip and back. Both were flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment late Friday night. Police said the names of the alleged victims will not be released until Monday. The two live at the residence.
Police said there was no sign of forced entry. Two men were inside the home, police said, but it was not clear whether they were guests or intruders. Both reportedly had guns.
The man who was shot was in the kitchen area when a gunman appeared in a doorway and shot him with what was described to police as a small, black revolver.
The woman was outside in the yard getting her dog when she was shot.
She was found on the porch of the home, sitting in a chair, police said.
Police said Saturday there were no witnesses, although Capt. Robert Wilson said at the scene that a third person was reportedly in the house at the time.
One suspect was described by police as a white male wearing a dark hat, blue mask and gray sweatshirt. The other was described as a black male with a beard, wearing a black hat. No description of any vehicle involved was available.
