: Police beat May 3

Contractor arrested: Salvatore Conte, 55, of 517 Moore Ave., Canonsburg, was arraigned Thursday on charges of home improvement fraud and theft by deception for allegedly taking $6,000 from a Canonsburg couple for roofing work earlier this year. Conte took the money from Joseph and Michelle Rossi but never did any work and did not refund the money, police said. Conte, who is in the Washington County jail on other charges, was arraigned by video before District Judge David Mark, who set an additional bond of $25,000. A preliminary hearing will be held Wednesday before Mark.


Man arrested: Dontaey Louis Clites, 22, of Pittsburgh, faces charges of drug possession, simple assault and harassment after state police were called to a motel where he and Lechiqua Tonae Zharee King, 18, no address given, were arguing Thursday. Troopers noticed a red mark on King’s neck. Police also said Clites had five stamp bags of heroin in his pocket. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.


Assault charge: Stephen J. Murphy II, 21, of 50 1/2 Fifth St., Meadow Lands, was charged by Chartiers police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting Whitney Farmer at his home April 14. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

DUI crash: James Getchel, 23, of Dogwood Street, Westland, will be charged by Chartiers police with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a crash on Western Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Chartiers police said he was driving north when he crossed the road, hit a utility pole and then a tree.

Left the scene: Bryan Lee Fodor, 45, of 144 Alexander Ave., Strabane, will be charged with leaving the scene of a crash early Thursday on Chartiers Run Road, Chartiers police said. He was found by Canonsburg police walking while intoxicated near the intersection of Boone Avenue and Route 519, North Strabane Township.


Generator stolen: Mike Wolfe, 95 E. Main St., West Middletown, told state police Wednesday that his Wildfire generator was stolen from his front porch.
