Alexander Dunaway is among 26 members of Alpha Chi nationwide to receive one of the organization’s fellowships or scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year. Dunaway was awarded a $1,500 Alfred H. Nolle Scholarship. He is a junior engineering student at Geneva College. Dunaway graduated from McGuffey High School, and his parents are Chuck and Doris Dunaway of Washington.
Michael T. Houser served as a student marshal for the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at the spring commencement of Penn State University’s College of Engineering. Student marshals are selected by the college for their outstanding academic achievement and contributions to engineering student life. Houser graduated with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. His Penn State honors include the President’s Freshman Award, the President Sparks Award and the Evan Pugh Scholar Award in both his junior and senior years. He was named to the dean’s list every semester and received the II-VI Foundation Scholarship, the Edward R. Morrow Endowed Scholarship, the Louis A. Harding-Memorial Scholarship and the Robert S. Wetmiller Scholarship. He also served as a teaching assistant for a required public speaking course for engineers. Houser’s extracurricular activities included the Penn State Undergraduate Teaching and Research Experiences in Engineering Program, where he volunteered as a mentor and assisted in teaching a weeklong seminar on presentations at Shenghai Jiao Tong University in China. He served on the Engineer Online Learning Experience Task Force and participated in the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Marathon. Houser completed internships with the Boeing Co., Washington Electric Co., and Nabco Inc. He has accepted a job with the Boeing Co. as a structural analysis engineer. He is a 2009 graduate of Peters Township High School, and his parents are Thomas and Susan Houser of Venetia.
Ciara Rotondo was named to the dean’s list for the sixth consecutive semester at Penn State University, where she is majoring in early childhood education. It is the second consecutive semester Rotondo posted a 4.0 grade-point average. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She participated in Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. She is a 2010 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, and her parents are Tom and Judy Rotondo. She is employed by Elizabethtown Child Care Center.
