W&J given five seed in Division III regional

Washington & Jefferson College was awarded the fifth seed in the NCAA Division III baseball Mideast Regional, which begins Wednesday at Art Nehf Field in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Presidents (30-11), winners of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, will face No. 4 seed Illinois Wesleyan at 10 a.m. Wednesday in their first-round game of the double-elimination regional. Winners of the eight regional tournaments advance to the NCAA Championship May 24-28 in Appleton, Wis.

Other games Wednesday the W&J regional include top-seeded Manchester, Ind., facing No. 8 seed Mount Union, No. 2 seed Marietta playiong No. 7 seed Penn State-Behrend, and No. 3 seed Wooster playing No. 6 seed Thomas More.
