CALIFORNIA

PFA violation: California University police on Thursday charged Kevin Brown, 22, of 100 Milltown Road, Apt. 404, New Kensington, with violating a protection-from-abuse order. Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Bria Thomas, said Brown sent text messages to her cellphone on two separate occasions. Brown was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.


CANONSBURG

Assault charges: Donald Smith, 39, of 720 Fayette St., Washington, is facing charges of simple assault and harassment over accusations he struck Christen Perkins of 537 Giffin Ave., Canonsburg, in the eye about 11 a.m. Thursday in Canonsburg, borough police said.


CANTON

Assault alleged: Shawn L. Hartzog, 33, of 193 Marra Ave., Canton, is facing charges of making terroristic threats and simple assault over accusations he pushed Trista L. Fairchild to the ground and struck her nose with his elbow about 1:40 a.m. Friday at his residence, state police said. He fled the scene before police arrived.


SOUTH STRABANE

Man faces conduct charge: John Richman, 76, 795 E. Beau St., Washington, is facing a disorderly conduct charge over allegations he approached a car stopped at a red light on Route 19, driven by Melissa Chappell of 690 Beech St., Washington, because he was angry about her driving skills, township police said. He allegedly pounded on her car window until she opened it, screamed at her, spit on her and kicked the vehicle’s side panel about 11:50 a.m. Thursday at the entrance to Strabane Square, police said.


WASHINGTON

Man jailed: Malachi C. Simmons, 41, of 105 Church St., Washington, was taken to the Washington County jail Thursday after city police said they discovered he had two warrants for his arrest. Officers stopped him earlier in the day after they were called to the Circle K, 701 W. Chestnut St., for a report of retail theft. He was unable to post $500 bond, and his preliminary hearing is set for June 19.


Purse stolen: A car was broken into Thursday outside Washington Park Elementary , 801 E. Wheeling St., and a purse was stolen, Washington police said. A wallet, digital camera, credit cards and car keys were also taken.


Home burglarized: A home at 905 Fayette St. was burglarized Thursday, and a television, Playstation 3, and 15 games and DVDs were stolen, city police said. The suspect entered through a living room window.
