Police beat June 10
Driver faces charges: Tyler K. Zollars, 26, of Sycamore, faces charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and following too closely following a crash Saturday afternoon on Roy Furman Highway, Franklin, Greene County. State police said he was driving west when his vehicle struck the rear of another westbound vehicle, driven by Asa R. Winters, 27, of Prosperity. Winters was taken to Southwest Regional Medical Center, where he received stitches for a wound on his face. Zollars was taken to the center where blood was drawn to determine if he was under the influence, police said.
Vehicle damaged: Tonya Rae Baker of Morgantown, W.Va., told state police Wednesday her vehicle was damaged while it was parked at 107 Mt. Morris Road, Perry, Greene County.
Unauthorized use: Brandy Alderson, 31, of 5 Wren Way, South Strabane, was charged Friday by South Strabane police with unauthorized use. Her mother, Joanne Loar, told police she loaned Alderson her car to go to a doctor’s appointment Thursday but she never returned the vehicle. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Assault, threats charges: Richard V. Brown, 48, of West Middletown, was arrested Saturday night by state police after he allegedly punched Stacey A. Phillips, also of West Middletown, several times in the head and back during a confrontation at 64 E. Main St., West Middletown. He also allegedly threatened to kill her. Brown was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
