Spring is here!
As the temperatures rises in the warm months, it is a good idea to add some cooling foods into your diet.
Avocados are a great choice this time of year. Not only are they super nutritious, they also go well with many other foods, which leads to tasty, easy and nutritious meals and snacks.
Avocados are technically a fruit. They provide more than 20 essential nutrients to the body, including potassium, fiber, vitamin E and folic acid.
Avocados also provide “good fat,” which enables the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients and allows you to easily digest other foods eaten throughout the day. At just 50 calories for two to three slices of avocado, it is a healthy snack.
Smoothies are a great choice for a snack, meal replacement or dessert this time of year. Smoothies also can be frozen to make homemade Popsicles. Adding avocado to a smoothie provides a “healthy fat” to help absorb all those nutrients. Enjoy!
Creamy Mango Banana Smoothie
1 cup frozen mango or 1 fresh mango & 1/2 cup ice
1 large banana
1/4 cup coconut water
Blend and enjoy!
