Deer causes crashes: A deer that was struck by a car on Interstate 79 Saturday afternoon caused another crash as other motorists tried to avoid it. State police said Caitlyn Larson, 22, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, hit the deer at 1:30 p.m. near milemarker 39 in South Strabane. Police said Andrew Hicks, 37, of McDonald, then crashed into a car driven by Nancy Iovino, 64, of Pittsburgh, as she tried to avoid the deer. No one was injured, although all three cars had to be towed from the scene. Police said they plan to cite Hicks for driving at an unsafe speed.
Three injured in crash: Three people were injured last week when they were involved in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 at the Racetrack Road exit in South Strabane, state police said. Police said a car driven by James Patterson, 30, of Canonsburg, crashed into two other cars at 11:19 a.m. Tuesday. The occupants inside one car, Lyndsey Crosby, 21, of Roebuck, S.C., Candi Crosbey, 45, of Greer, S.C., and a 2-year-old boy were taken to Washington Hospital with unspecified injuries, police said. The other driver, George Niedzialkia, 68, of Burgettstown, was not injured. Police said they plan to cite Patterson for driving at an unsafe speed.
